Posts
Well I haven't posted in here in a while because it was just getting too crazy with multiple blogs. I am doing book posts at my regular blog and if you look at the entry before this one you can see what I'm up to since I have the Twitter widget up. For the time being anyway I'll just keep this up but I plan on killing this blog since I'm not over here. So go over to http://melancholymusings.com where I blog daily and I also have a blog where I babble about the soaps that can be found at http://soapgirl.today.com. And of course I have a fan fiction website at http://moonlightdwelling.com so I'm pretty busy hence me not wanting to bother with more than the two blogs. You can follow me at http://twitter.com/bardgirl where I give updates for the blogs and my website.
Since I really haven't been thinking to post over here I thought I'd put up Twitter just in case someone stumbles across this so you can go to the blog that I'm writing in daily which includes book posts. Since I decided to include them over at my regular blog I'll admit that I haven't always thought about bringing it over here too so this is a way to find out what's going on and go over there if you'd like.
Yes I finished another book and I didn't even start in January like others did. Nope I started at the end of last month so actually I think I'm ahead. Since I'm a book slut I doubt that I'll stop at 11. Oops I have been neglecting other books because I just can't put them down. So I really should get to that book I had started but had to wait to get from the library but since this is me I wouldn't be surprised if I end up picking up the fourth book in this series and starting it sometime today. I'm going to try not to but it just might be too much for me to resist.
This book focuses more on Cathy's kids Jory and Bart. Chris and Cathy take the kids and move after Paul's death. He was the one guy that wasn't an asshole since Cathy seems to be an asshole magnet and yes that kind of includes Chris. She did try to find someone else but he never made an effort so she ended up getting sucked in so the two are posing as a married couple. Of course you should start from the first book Flowers In The Attic if you haven't read it yet. Bart feels left out which is why he ends up gravitating next door where a mystery woman moves in that dresses in black. A troubled little boy ends up even more twisted.
Who is next door? Well I'm not going to tell you if you don't already know. You're going to have to read it. Go on it won't bite you. All I have to say about the one that lives next door is that she has a lot of nerve and by the way watch out for creepy ass butlers wanting to talk to you because that isn't going to help your mental state any. Things get worse with Bart when Cathy who is desperate for another child takes in a little girl named Cindy whose mother died. They really should have taken Bart to the loony bin right away. Of course I enjoyed this book quite a lot and I do feel for the kids since the secret does get revealed but will sanity prevail in the end or are they doomed?
I forgot to post this when I finished it over here. Yes I'm still posting over here even though I've been including book posts at my regular blog that can be found over at http://www.melancholymusings.com. I'm still thinking about getting rid of this one but I'll keep it up in the meantime since anyone that comes across this might only be interested in the book posts.
I'm almost done with this book so I've been sort of good focusing on this one instead of heading over to the next VC Andrews although I did start that last night. Well there's the issue of me and library books. Anyway I've really enjoyed this book and have read other books by her. When I like a book I do check out the other books or at least as much as I can being stuck at the mercy of the library. I can't even begin to imagine how much money it would cost to keep me in books over a year.
A woman is brutally murdered but the accused gets off which doesn't sit well with anyone and in particular this one cop who decides to take the law into his own hands. Annie is a Deputy and happens to be the only female on the force so the others don't like it when she arrests the cop that decides to beat the released suspect. Talk about a place full of chauvinists pigs. So she's pretty ballsy doing the right thing even though it isn't the popular thing.
So things get really bad for Annie because she has to deal with a lot of crap from the others on the force who feel she betrayed them. She wants to find the killer so she works with the cop to find out and hello there is a series of rapes which could be connected. Were the cops too quick to point the finger? It also doesn't help when it appears that someone is out to kill Annie? So join her into this tale and see where it takes you. Yes this is a longer book but do not be afraid because this is a really good book.
Last night I read this before I went to bed. Well gee from the title there must be some bad dreams somewhere in the book and yes there are. It turns out there just might be a haunted bed thrown in too. The Travers move to Fear Street. I guess losing Mr Travers led to them having to move out of North Hills to Fear Street. After all they must have really cheap houses over there with all that weird ass shit happening. An odd thing is Maggie's discovery of a canopy bed in her room. Now why would someone leave that behind? Of course it must be haunted.
Andrea is jealous of her sister so she wanted the bed but since it was in Maggie's room she got to keep it. Hey sometimes it is good to not get it because the bed seems to be causing Maggie bad dreams. See the title does make sense after all. Andrea should be glad because I wouldn't want to be dreaming about some girl getting stabbed in my bed. Now what in the world is going on? Is there a ghost around? Or is Andrea crazy out to kill her sister?
Since this is Fear Street weirdness abounds so of course this is a screwy tale. I guess this would be a guilty pleasure wouldn't it? I don't hide the book if I happen to be starting one when I'm heading off to the grocery store so I'm not sure if this qualifies or not. It is crazy so you might not expect what happens to happen but who knows you might figure out what's going on before you reach the end. You might not look at a canopy bed the same way again after reading this book. Until next time.
I'm not sure why but there was a delay in me finishing this book. If you haven't been paying attention I did read two VC Andrews books when I should have been finishing this book. I think it could have something to do with a character being named Barbara who was a total bitch. Yes I'm not crazy about my name but I am stuck with it for the time being anyway. Oh for a way to change it without any muss or fuss. I finally finished this book which really isn't that long. Also I think I'm not as into this series because I prefer her other series. Did that make any sense?
The military tried to create better soldiers which includes Sasha and the other members of her team. She was saved from being infected with a virus so she has Shadow Wolf in her. I guess that mumbo jumbo also delayed me on the reading since that kind of went over my head. Well there are infected out there who are looking to get their hands on the Shadow Wolves because that's the way to bring them down from their high. See I told you it was confusing.
There's also a prophecy thrown in that seems to be pointing at Sasha since she seems to fit the bill. Because they are trying to prevent an all out battle caused by the vampires the werewolves and the shadow wolves need to have an alliance. I wonder if the next book will have a battle between Hunter and Shogun over Sasha. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one or not because this just didn't really appeal to me all that much mainly because it didn't really make all that much sense to me. Maybe that quiz I took was wrong and I'm actually dumb instead of not being dumb after all.
Yes I know I should be reading the other book I was reading but yet here I am finishing up the second book of the reading challenge that I'm so going to finish before the year is out. This picks up where the last one left off so you really should start with Flowers In The Attic so don't say I didn't warn you about that. No I won't show up at your place to smack you with a book but series should be read in order except for those very rare occasions where the books can be read out of order although I prefer to read the first to the last but that's just me.
Chris, Cathy, and Carrie make their escape after poor Cory died. Yes you just might want to have some tissue near since you might get a bit teary. They were able to buy bus tickets and were planning on going to Florida when poor Carrie got sick on the bus. Luckily they met Henny a lovely woman who just so happened to be a housekeeper for Paul Sheffield who turned out to be a doctor and was like a son to her. The Dollangers finally get a break at last so you'd think that things would be all good from this point on but sadly that isn't the case.
It isn't easy adjusting to living like normal people and of the three poor Carrie is having the hardest time. Since she never had a chance to grow because she was locked up for those years she is very sensitive about her height and the size of her head. So poor Carrie struggles along wanting what everyone else has and of course she wants to be loved. What happens to her? Does she find love? Well you'll just have to read it to find out. As you can tell if you've been paying attention I found myself reading this more than the other book I was planning on finishing.
There are some guys in this book with some serious control issues. Being locked up for years does not help in dealing with men like that. Does anyone in the family have a happy ending? Do they ever come face to face with Corrine again? Does she feel guilt over what she inflicted on her own kids all for a large inheritance? Weill Cathy get her revenge against Momma? Does the grandmother finally die? I must warn you that you might have a hard time putting the book down because you'll want to keep reading it.
I forgot to post this this yesterday so I'm doing it now so I'm off to post about the other book I finally finished reading.
I just finished reading this while I was having lunch. I read it before and actually now that I think about it I think I snuck into my sister's room and grabbed the book. I don't know why I did that but I guess it had to do with me reading adult books in elementary school. So it's been a while but I enjoyed reading it again. It is such a sad story that just sucks you in from the very start. Just because someone is a mother doesn't make her a good person. I think people don't think about that since it tends to be the father that is portrayed as the villain when both can be just as bad.
The Dollangers are a happy family until tragedy strikes and Christopher dies. Talk about suckitude dying on your birthday. Corrine who was crappy when it came to money causing them to go into debt because her husband could never say no ends up going back to her parents house. Just when you think things can't get any worse they do. Corrine takes the kids upstairs to a bedroom telling them that they'll only have to stay up there for a little while because she has to break the news to her father who is dying that she has kids. There's also the mystery thing she did causing her to stay away for all those years. Yes she had crappy, horrible parents but that doesn't give her the right to do what she did to her kids. What did she do? You'll have to read to find out for yourself.
So Cathy, Christopher, Carrie, and Cory are trapped in this room only able to go up to the attic. Days pass and weeks past and yes even years end up passing. Their Momma keeps bringing them gifts telling them that one day he'll die and all will be forgiven. She comes in wearing new jewelry and clothing but of course she doesn't mention anything about letting them out of the room. Also the grandmother is pretty evil and scary because she's the one that brings them their food. Eventually they decide to escape but sadly it is too late for one of them since one of them dies and something really disturbing is revealed. Sure the incest part is a bit disturbing but if you look at it from their perspective you can't really blame them for being curious and of course it wasn't like they were around other people. So if you're in the mood for a book that will capture your attention and go down a twisted path this is the book for you.
Oh screw it the stupid thing isn't working right which is why this entry will look weird. I don't know why it does that. Maybe it's because it was already posted over at http://www.melancholymusings.com where you can find out about the reading challenge I'm doing if you're in the mood for VC Andrews. I'm not sure if anyone even reads this blog and since I started posting the book posts over there along with the others I sometimes forget to post over here and of course there were those two weeks where I was without a computer except for the library which means I had my hands full trying to have a post a day at that blog let alone anywhere else. So stop by if you like because I'm not sure if I'll be keeping this one up or not since I can keep track of how many books I read over there.
I'm not sure if anyone is even reading this blog but I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with it anymore since I'm posting the book posts at my regular daily blog. Thanks to some computer woes I was out of commission for a bit but now I'm back and having to play catch up so you can find all of the posts over at http://www.melancholymusings.com. I might keep this up but right now I'm not sure.
Yes I was reading another book before but I decided to delay it since I prefer to have both books with me instead of being in the unknown zone of when the next book will arrive after putting it on hold again and I wasn't that far into it so it's no big deal. I'm not even sure if I liked it or not but I just felt like starting this book since I've enjoyed a couple of her other books. I'll probably get around to reading those two books but they happen to be due on Wednesday so I'll just turn them in and get them back which does happen when you have to rely on the library for your book needs.
An earthquake gives prisoners at San Quentin an opportunity to escape which isn't so good when one of them is obsessed with Jo Sutton who has no clue about this. One by one they end up getting caught except for three of them and they make their way to Montana where Jo lives. Four years before her husband and son were murdered and the one obsessed with him has no problem killing in the name of justice for the one he loves. The dude is completely bonkers since he thinks they're in love and have a relationship.
Just another example of the evilness of snow since a storm is brewing outside and Aaron makes his way to the lodge that Jo runs with her sister and Grandpa. He uses the name from one of her books so she has no idea that there's a total nut job under her roof. This guy is pretty smart even if he's totally nuts since he does manage to catch the fax with his mugshot so they have no idea what danger they're in. So what happens? Does anyone die? Well to find that out you'll just have to read the book. Come on it isn't that long at just over 400 pages. Go on you just might like it.
Will Jo ever be able to move on with her life and find love again with Tyler or will she continue to feel guilty about Ken and Timmy? Okay I'll admit it that I got a little teary while reading the book so you might want to have some tissue handy. I really enjoyed this book so I'll be reading other books by her too since I enjoy them although I'm not really a girl that reads mysteries although this isn't the typical mystery novel since romance is woven in and now that I mention that I'm not really all that big on romance novels either unless there's a paranormal aspect to it which this doesn't have.
